Nothing beats the chance to witness first hand Giant Pandas eating their bamboo leaves, Orangutans swinging up and down, Polar Bears roaring and swimming in their ponds, to Tarantulas, and Galapagos Tortoises. These are only a few among the group of common to rare and endangered 4000 animals belonging to over 800 species protected in the San Diego Zoo.
A vast collection of 700,000 exotic plants resides with these animals in one of the pioneer zoos in the world that promotes "cageless" exhibits to give the animals more freedom and a much more thrilling experience for the visitors.
The dedicated reproduction, protection, and exhibition of animals and their habitats with the zoo being a conservation, education, and recreational organization is the mission statement keeping it intact up to this day from being founded by Harry M. Wegeforth back in October 2, 1916.
Reservations are not necessary because it is open daily even at weekends and holidays. The San Diego Zoo is also constantly engineered and polished to give it a different design allowing you to have a diversified experience each time you decide to visit.
